What have I done to deserve this..?

(This Poem was written after completing Sri Ramayana as Poetry in English, – first time ever written)

Haven’t dreamt a dream that I would write this scene by scene,

The story of ‘Rama’ as fresh as a lawn of lush green,

Still, I could bring to you, this epic work of truth,

Where ‘Rama’ shows us how the rough of life is made smooth.

It’s said that dreams come true, not all but just a few,

There are those they come and hide, some vanish like a tide,

Some are just illusions, some not of good taste,

Some are odd desires, they die unclear in the haze.

Some wake us out from sleep, some make us smile or weep,

Some walk us through the places, where we had never been.

A dream is like a witch that deceives and does not exist,

But ‘karma’ is a bitch, pairs with everyone amidst.

What we do in life aren’t from dreams those come through,

We do the things we do, only those we’re destined to.

Love, in its abundance, is too much yet not enough,

Pleasure is a mystery that could rarely show up.

All the good things are disturbed by evil curses,

The evil powers always are ready with their forces.

‘Dharma’ is the virtue of the goodness in the heart,

In the words that we speak and in the deeds we take part.

If all of this is from within and nothing is without,

Our own ‘karma’ is the cause of what we do without a doubt.

‘Karma’ brought us here and still ‘karma’ leads us somewhere,

Cause and effect of our own deeds make the path clear,

If ‘dharma’ is defended like a lamp in a hurricane,

The role of ‘karma’ takes us to the sacred place of fame.

Best of my karma in this and in my earlier births,

Should be the reason for this timeless, endless mirth,

Or those of my parents or my ancestors before,

Or with their blessings unto me which I harness and explore

Karmic laws could expunge all my sin and set things right,

I’m destined to be the one chosen to be the tool to write

This grand epic of ‘Sri Rama’ and the ordeals and his fight

Against every mundane evil in a poetic form of delight.

A million births and deaths might have come and gone,

Here in this one, I’ve found the step that leads to heavens upon.

What have I done to deserve this chance I’ve come across?

What have I done in the past, to be held by this divine grasp?

I belong to you and hence, my selfless self is yours,

In the success of this book, the joy is mine and Pride be yours.
