This is a gross translation of the Tamil Poem ‘Manadhil Urudhi Vendum’
written by Mahakavi Subramanya Barathi.
Wishful Dream
May the heart be firm to do the deeds,
May the words we speak be ever sweet,
May the thoughts bear the good in mind,
Blessed we be, what we want we’ll find
Let all the dreams we dream come true,
Soon our lives be led in through
All the riches, joy, and delight,
To bring for us the mundane pride.
With eyes open in search of truth, we run,
What we want to do, it must be done.
Women be freed from the shackles bond,
With Him as our Saviour, our fear be gone.
May we be of use to the land we live,
May we be those who don’t take but give,
When love be served as a common dish,
Then, none be poor but rich in bliss.

Portraying the same emotion/tone of the original work is a difficult task in translating a work and you did a wonderful job, sir. My chest beams with pride reading this poem. Respect to poet Bharathi and kudos to you for carrying it out so well in a different language, sir!
Thank You Reshma. I’m glad you like it.
Rao, bubbling with thoughts in watch subject…great stuff and it’s always good to read your posts
Thanks Narayana.
