Sundara Anjaneyar Temple, Kallukuzhi, Trichy

Sundara Anjaneyar Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman located at Kallukuzhi near Trichy Railway Station in Trichy City in Trichy District of Tamilnadu.

Anjaneya of the temple was a pavement deity about 90 years ago on the second platform of Tiruchirappalli Railway Junction. The railway staff and the passengers used to worship him. In the year 1928, when works began to link the railway line of Erode and Nagapattinam, Armsby, the then General Manager of Railway district ordered removal of this Anjaneya. Though the structure was demolished, they could not remove the idol. The manager had a dream that night that two trains had derailed at the place where Anjaneya existed.

He rushed to the spot and found his dream true. But all passengers were safe. Realizing his folly, he immediately ordered special pujas to him and immediately allotted a vast space for a temple. That space was Kallukuzhi. He also arranged sufficient funds for the temple project. After completing the temple construction and special pujas, the officials were able to move the idol to the new temple. This is built in the Kallukuzhi railway staff colony.
