Strength of Hanuman
In the southbound team, there was a big hue and cry,
As to who could jump the full distance or dive,
Across the ocean nonstop to the Lankan beach.
It appeared impossible to reach in a single leap.
A few of the able said they can do half the span,
Many were depressed and frustrated that they can’t.
Angada said that for sure all the way he can,
But there was a doubt if he can successfully return.
Jambavan, the bear, then arrived with a solution,
He claimed he could clear the ‘cloud on the horizon’.
The oldest in the army had something to recall,
That he finds Hanuman to be the only one of all.
Jambavan says:
‘Hey, You! Anjaneya! Son of the wind god Vayu,
If anyone can cross this distance it can only be you.
You are as pure as your mother Anjana in your thoughts,
Your knowledge is complete there is nothing you know not.
Virtue and modesty are ornaments you wear,
In a clash to stand against you, no one would dare.
Your tenacity and sincerity in duty are supreme,
The divine habits that you have are sacred and clean
You talk with the least of chosen words which can convey right,
Your expressions are clear and you are always polite.
In the assessment of people, you are more than precise,
Good or bad, wrong or right is right that you decide.
Your propensity to help is constantly in the high,
Your tendency to succeed is always brilliantly bright.
In times of peril and jeopardy, with calmness, you wait,
No weapon can hurt you nor can the demons fright.
You are like ‘Garuda’, in flying distances with ease,
You are tireless in motion like the flowing breeze.
Your might and power can cause a turn with ease,
With your strength and endurance any odds you can deal
Your strength can never deplete; it’s an ever-increasing tide,
You can make the impossible possible and that’s always your pride.
Your enthusiasm is forever like the zeal of a child,
You are blessed by the gods from heaven inside.
Bramha, the god of creations, has bestowed upon you the boons,
With those boons, invincible you are; you will recall soon.
These are the latent powers that you are unaware of till now,
Come forward to fulfill the mission, get right up on your toes.
Hanuman Leaps to Lanka (Vishwaroopa)
As his latent power was explained, Hanuman closed his eyes,
As he closed his eyes, he just grew in size,
All his powers unknown came to his conscious bright,
He got attuned to his spiritual inner light.
In height, he grew tall, taller than the tallest,
His muscles grew big, bigger each minute.
He grew above the clouds to unfathomable heights,
The mountain under his feet began to pulverize.
More he heard them say, he grew stronger in every stage,
All of them around Maruthi, were spellbound and amazed.
His glowing eyes opened and were red as his mouth and chin,
He was totally resolved to make success in the mission
The aura around his head was a spectacular sight,
His body picked a glow with a radiant shine.
He moved back and front and gained momentum to fly,
Chanting the name Rama, Hanuman shot up in the sky.
‘Rama Rama Rama Rama Rama Rama Rama Ram
Rama Rama Rama Rama Rama Rama Rama Ram
Jai Shree Ram Jai Jai Seetha Ram
Jai Jai Ram Jai Jai Seetha Ram’
This stage of spiritual augmentation is called the ‘Vishwaroopa’,
From now to eternity, he becomes the ardent ‘Ramadasa’.
His focus is only to rejoin Seetha and Rama,
In his purposeful career, this is a great landmark.
His reverence to Rama is the pinnacle of devotion,
Where the lord and the devotee are in spiritual culmination.
Reverence to the one is reverence to the other,
For Hanuman and Rama have their hearts in each other.
‘Rama Rama Rama Rama Rama Rama Rama Ram
Rama Rama Rama Rama Rama Rama Rama Ram
Jai Shree Ram Jai Jai Seetha Ram
Jai Jai Ram Jai Jai Seetha Ram’
