Interesting People: Ahrima Nair

My brother’s son Harihara once in a few months invites cool friends willing to stay with us as our guest at home. All this happens through an app called ‘Couch Surfing’. Couch Surfing is a hospitality exchange service by which users can request free short-term homestays or interact with other people who are interested in travel. It is accessible via a website and mobile app.

Well, this time we had Ahrima Nair, a hell-bent cyclist from Kerala. I was in awe to know her previous bicycling expedition from Kanyakumari to Ladakh, all alone by the west cost and up. All through her trip she halts in various places and as a master of Yoga she speaks about the benefits of Yoga to the enthusiasts. Her clips are in the net. You can read much about her.

This time Ahirma is on her way from Kanyakumari to Singapore (via North East states and then thro Burma). I won’t be surprised if she puts a python around her neck and rides away. Such a ‘Tomboy’ she is. God bless her.

She stayed with us for 2 days and she went around cycling to some of the Temples. She was very happy with our home food as she is a vegetarian too and our dogs stuck to her like glue.

We had a ton of things to know from her about the benefits of Yoga, Cycling and being out on such expeditions.

I saw her cycle with Indian flag and felt very patriotic till I tried to sit on it. Trust me. This girl is crazy to pick up a caterpillar for a cycle with a seat that sting on the tailbone. I truly felt that the design of cycles have become bizarre these days.

After lot of life with laughter she was back in her mission. I felt that Ahrima is a polestar as she could zoom away, cycling effortlessly, in style to do the remaining thousands of kilometers, meet new people in new places. A wonderful person- Indeed!
