Interesting People!

Elango, lovingly called as ‘Tinku’ by us since the college days is an interesting combination of a Chemical Engineer, a trim entrepreneur with a sonorous voice in command and a lifestyle Godfather living in Tiruppur. I’m amazed to see him turn to a quiet man of few words as he spread his wings to soar.

Today he is the Chairman and MD  of Yuvaraj group of companies delving into  various fields. First it was started as a hosiery manufacturing company during late 70’s and today sells, installs and maintains high cost knitting machinery all over the country.

Alongside many other fields such as in real estate and para-medical diagnostic services, a long list of companies are today in his gaze and action. He finds pleasure in agriculture and now owns up the largest registered Hibiscus farm (25 acres) to grow Red Rosa Sinences to harvest and export dry flowers used for many medicinal purposes.

As we went past his farm house in the making , it was interesting to know that he has his pool sides skirted with stones cut off while carving divine murthi’s made at ‘Thirumurugan Poondi’ for many temples. Ain’t that interesting? More interesting is the Peepal Tree (Sacred fig) that was about to be removed from the highway in the making, was saved by my beloved friend who engaged a crane to relocate it, intact in his ground, and that must have cost him about Rs.10 lakhs.

I opined that the farmhouse should be lively always and suggested to dress it up as a spot for a wedding destination catering to the upper middle class for a sweet song. I even suggested it to be named as ‘Mana Medai’. Ilango was listening carefully without stopping me. Of course, we were zinged up with a few cans of beer by then.

There are only two of these ‘Aston Martin’ cars in TN, each costing a whooping 6.5 crores. As he drove me in this one he owns, I was given to know that the other one is with Mr. Udayanidhi Stalin. A flash drive to hell and back like never before. If other good cars are said to have ‘good control’, I would say this car ‘simply yields’. She’s an absolute show piece to kiss.

My friend Elango is now undisturbed in his dream to own and rent out a hover of helicopters scaling the sky from Tiruppur in a possible future. Howzaat!

As an avid golf player he says some secrets of his success.

  •  Keep your cell phone only for incoming calls as much as possible.
  • Dream big and work to achieve it fully. If you leave it halfway, you haven’t dreamt fully.
  • Don’t work all by yourself. You would get worked up.
  • Earn to spend well. See that you spend to earn more. Thereby, every expenditure could be a potential investment.
  • Every day when you wake up, plan the day like how you plan for a holiday. It will be one.
  • Never plan a real holiday even when you go with your family. Experience it.
  • Drink beer. Its good. If it isn’t, have another one.
  • Don’t drink liquor. It kills.
  • Never forget that the sole purpose of life is to celebrate living.
  • Be happy and the world would love you more.

He said-

“More importantly Akash, maintain a low pulse. Do you know? My pulse rate is always between 55 and 63 bpm.”

He didn’t know that I was almost a tachycardia after the crazy drive.-lol

Best wishes Tinku. May all your dreams come up for the world to see.

Be a grandfather time and again. Stay between 18 and 22 forever.

Stay blessed.

-Akash
