Kamban – An inspiration
“உலகம் யாவையும் தாமுளவாக்கலும்,
நிலை பெறுத்தலும், நீக்கலும், நீங்கலா,
அலகிலா விளையாட்டுடையார், அவர் தலைவர்!
அன்னவர்க்கே சரண் நாங்களே”
கம்பனின் முதல் பாடல் மிக அற்புதமாகத் தொடங்குகிறது. ராம சரிதம் சொல்லப் புகுந்த காவியத்திலே, முதல் பாடலிலே, கடவுள் வாழ்த்தாக ஆரம்பிக்கும் அந்தப் பாடலிலே, கடவுள் பெயரே இல்லை! இது போன்று வேறு எந்தக் காவியத்திலும் வந்ததாகத் தெரியவில்லை. “இந்த உலகத்தினைப் படைத்தும், காத்தும், அழித்தும், இப்படி விளையாட்டாய் அனைத்தையும் நடத்திக் கொண்டிருக்கும் அந்த ஒருவரே, எங்கள் தலைவர். அவரது தாளினைகளையே, நாங்கள் சரணடைகிறோம்” என்று தொடங்குகிறான் கம்பநாடன். எந்த ஒரு மதத்தினைச் சார்ந்தவரும், தங்களது தெய்வமே, படைப்பு, காத்தல், அழித்தல் ஆகிய முத்தொழிலையும் புரிகின்றது என்று நினைப்பர். அதனால்தான், எந்த தெய்வத்தினையும் சாராமல், அதே சமயம், எல்லா தெய்வத்திற்கும் பொருந்தும் விதத்தில், இந்தப் பாடல் படைத்தானோ? என்ன அழகு இந்தப் பாடல்!
Now here is what I have written. Though not a verbal translation work the idea of Almighty as Anonymous power is taken as inspiration from Kamban. Hope you all enjoy reading.
Prayer
Glory to Almighty God, God is all mighty,
He or She, this or that, or whatever it may be.
Omnipresent, omniscient and omnipotent is thee,
Hidden in the open and everywhere to see.
In all the elements on the planet and the sky so deep,
Bigger than the biggest and smaller than the wee,
What was then, what is now and what could ever be,
In all the good, all the bad and all that holds beauty,
From within and without, in the reasons, in the deeds,
For thou to stay, we pray, we surrender at your feet.
