(25 Years of our married life)
Twenty five years of fulfilled emptiness, open for more,
A long story forgotten with traces of memories in store,
Two strangers walk the long path without a word,
When one won’t stop, the other must also go.
Two children, both with their mother and me in between,
They smile at me and I’m only a friend in need indeed,
In every little thing they do, Mom is all they seek,
But when they are happy they run to kiss me.
She is happy when children say
‘You are the best Daddy in the world!’
She is happy when children crawl
On to the bed between us and roll,
She is happy with the gifts of God, I could give,
They are the same gifts she could bring for me to live.
Thankfully ever she smiles at me with warmth,
She is no more a strange wife but a mother of those born.
Now that the children are grown above our shoulders,
She looks at me as the youngest of all, when I get older.
Not a word yet about ‘how are you or how am I’,
It is all said in one look from eye to an eye.
And then a moment of silence followed by a smile,
That’s the moment, God bless us from the sky.
